Dear Brothers and Sisters,

     We had a good start to our series on the Sanctuary.  The Lord will bless us as we move forward in this series.  This week we will talk about the altar of sacrifice and "The Fire That Consumes".  It is necessary that we learn what Jesus wants us to know for these last days we are living in.  We must come up to the Lord's standard.  We are too content to remain down in the world's poison when it is our privilege to rise into the glory of our Heavenly Father's throne.  We must cooperate with God's plan for our lives.  He has proved His love for us, so we have nothing to fear from totally committing to the work He wants to do in us and for us.  Please prayerfully consider the following quotation from God's messenger, Ellen White.

     "Let all, both men and women, be constantly inquiring, "What am I? and what ought I to be?" Let all consider that they can not give to others what they do not possess themselves; therefore they should not settle down content with their natural ways and habits, seeking to make no change for the better. Paul says he had not attained, but "I press toward the mark." There must be constant reformation, unceasing advancement. Unless the workers are constantly seeking for higher attainments, they will greatly hinder one another in the work. Changes will be constantly occurring, new duties will arise, new fields of labor will open, and united, thoroughly organized effort alone can bring success."  {Pacific Union Recorder, June 29, 1905}

     God blessed us in our Business Meeting last night.  I wish more of you had attended, but the business of the church was conducted.  We voted to increase our monthly budget for the church to $1950.00 per month.  That is a $300.00/mo. increase.  God has been blessing our church, and we want to keep up with His leading.  Of course that means we must keep up with our giving, and perhaps even increase it.  Let us never doubt God and His promises to supply our needs.  Plans will be unfolding as we move forward.  Let us pray for ourselves and for each other.  And personally let us recommit ourselves to moving with Jesus instead of dragging our feet and slowing His pace.
     I am including a note from Brother Tom regarding our health food, and attaching the papers mentioned so you can see what we have available and make any orders you want to make.
                  {"Attached is Jeffersonville's Health Food Price List and Order Form for distribution with your next newsletter. I have included a pdf version for printing and  manually                              completing and an Excel version which can be completed electronically and will automatically calculate the total cost.  Additional items are also available at www.somethingbetternaturalfoods.com which Mike can order through a local co-op for the price posted on their website plus 10% for shipping.  Please encourage people to contact Mike at 502-718-2293 or at lmikehughes@yahoo.com for additional information."}

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
It is nice that the hot weather has broken for awhile. Thank you to the many calls we got asking about Rose. She is doing fine now. The heat is something she does not tolerate at all, and I believe that was the main problem Sabbath and why I had to bring her home instead of staying for Sabbath School. When it gets hot like it was I always think about the 4th plague that will come after probation closes when, the Bible says, the sun will scorch men with fire. Oh how important it is now to hide ourselves in Jesus so that we will be protected in those days.
Please remember to be reading in Prophets and Kings for this prayer meeting on Wednesday evening if you haven't already done so. We will be discussing the material on pages 33 and 34 of the workbook. There are so many lessons, so much instruction that God in His great love for us inspired His special messenger to write down. Jesus has sent His angel with just the words we need to prepare us to stand in these last days - unspotted by the world. All situations are met, and we will not have any excuse if we do not obey and are at last lost. God has done everything possible to save us. It is up to us to humble ourselves before Him, repent of our stupidity and rebellious attitude, and lay hold on eternal life.
This Sabbath we will begin a series on the work of Jesus in the heavenly sanctuary. What He is doing right now in heaven is vitally important. We must know so we can cooperate with Him. I will be using Power Point to make things as clear as possible. In order for us to exercise the faith necessary for these last days we have to have a clear understanding of the work of our Great High Priest in heaven. It is a real work. As real as any work done in any office or factory here on earth. Every one of us must know our place and work so we can be ready for the Second Coming of Jesus. The ministry of the priests in the earthly sanctuary was to teach us the steps in the plan of salvation, and our part. By studying the earthly sanctuary we will be able to see the heavenly, and understand what is required of us today.

"The subject of the sanctuary... opened to view a complete system of truth, connected and harmonious, showing that God's hand had directed the great advent movement and revealing present duty as it brought to light the position and work of His people." (GC424)
"The subject of the sanctuary and the investigative Judgment should be clearly understood by the people of God. All need a knowledge for themselves of the position and work of their great High Priest. Otherwise, it will be impossible for them to exercise the faith which is essential at this time, or to occupy the position which God designs them to fill. Every individual has a soul to save or to lose. Each has a case pending at the bar of God. Each must meet the great Judge face to face." (GC488)

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Already we are well into the new week.  God is so good to us.  I went down to Knoxville, TN to see my Mother in the hospital.  Friday she had another stroke.  Mom and Dad were in the hospital when it happened.  On Sunday when I got there it did not look good.  She couldn't speak, and slept most of the time.  She could respond by nodding or shaking her head in response to questions, and the MRI showed this stroke was bigger than the one 2 years ago.  However, yesterday she was much more alert, and was able to say a few words.  She was much improved when I left to come back home.  We have no guarantee for the future, but our Father has blessed us with a little more time.  Praise His holy name.
We have our evangelistic meeting tonight.  The Lord is really blessing us with His Spirit, and it is good to be able to share in His work of bringing souls into His light.  Please continue to pray earnestly each day.  We cannot afford to let down the shield of the Lord in this day of battle.
Also we need to remember to pray for each of our older members who are suffering with debilitating weakness and accidents.  Let us hold them up in prayer, and do whatever we can to support and minister to them.
May God continue to lead us as His church in these last days.
Yours in the Blessed Hope,
Pastor Daniel

Monday May 14

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
     Thank you for your prayers and hard work for our meetings that got under way this past Saturday night.  It is a joy to know we are laborers with God and with holy angels in the work of saving souls for the kingdom.  Jesus has promised that " this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; andthen shall the end come."  So we are following the command of God as recorded in 2 Peter 3:12 by "hastening the coming" of Jesus.  We had a very good turnout on Saturday night.  Sunday, being Mother's Day and raining was not as good, but we know we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the devil, the ruler of spiritual darkness.  He is doing all he can to keep people from hearing the messages from heaven.  The poor people don't know what they are missing, as they are led about by Satan, but we know and we must spend more time praying for them so the forces of the devil will be defeated.

      "As we seek to win others to Christ, bearing the burden of souls in our prayers, our own hearts will throb with the quickening influence of God's grace; our own affections will glow with more divine fervor; our whole Christian life will be more of a reality, more earnest, more prayerful."  {COL 354}

     Tuesday night we will be studying where Satan came from and God's response. Then Friday night we will be studying the Beast and the Dragon - How the devil has worked through earthly agencies in the past and will do so in the future.  This will lead into the importance of the law of God and the role of the Sabbath in the last days.  My desire in all these meetings is to show the ways in which Jesus is always victorious, and that as long as we trust Jesus we will be safe.  The role of prophecy is to reveal the character of God, and His dealing with us.  Jesus, the Mighty Champion of God is the One we can always rely on in our daily life.
     Again I thank each one who is helping out so faithfully at the meetings, and I covet your prayers in my behalf, and on behalf of the visitors.

Yours in the Blessed Hope,
Pastor Daniel

May 8 2012
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I want to thank all of you for your prayers and expressions of sympathy during the trying week we had during which Rose's sister died  a lot sooner than expected, and the funeral which had to be planned and carried out.  We were glad to be a help to the children, and hope we will be able to have a good influence going forward.  Of course it was very hard on Rose also.  As those who have experienced it, losing a sibling is a particularly hard experience.  Again, your prayers have been a great help.
     Tomorrow night at Prayer Meeting I will be studying with you how we can best work for those the Lord will send to our Prophecy Seminar.  We will be looking at the principles found in the Bible.  I especially hope you all remember the studies we had at the beginning of the year on how Jesus dealt with people.  Every study I have is geared toward teaching the principles God has given us to help us in our work for Him.  Then since we will be having meetings on Tuesdays during the rest of the month, we will not be having meetings on Wednesday night.  Prayer Meeting will be suspended while we are all supporting the Seminar.
     God is so good to us.  He is so loving and merciful.  My soul is on the stretch as I reach out for the living God.  I long to be filled with His Spirit, the Spirit that filled Jesus, our Elder Brother while He was on this earth.  I claim the promises that God has made to use such a wretch as I.  O how much I covet your prayers as I endeavor to speak the words of God.  I pray for each of you earnestly each day, but I must have your prayer support as I stand between the living and the dead and proclaim the words of this life God offers us.
          "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
           And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,  (Ephesians 6:18-19)

          "Wherever the word of God has been faithfully preached, results have followed that attested its divine origin. The Spirit of God accompanied the message of His servants, and the    word was with power. Sinners felt their consciences quickened. The "light which lighteth every man that cometh into the world" illumined the secret chambers of their souls, and the hidden things of darkness were made manifest. Deep conviction took hold upon their minds and hearts. They were convinced of sin and of righteousness and of judgment to come. They had a sense of the righteousness of Jehovah and felt the terror of appearing, in their guilt and uncleanness, before the Searcher of hearts. In anguish they cried out: "Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?" As the cross of Calvary, with its infinite sacrifice for the sins of men, was revealed, they saw that nothing but the merits of Christ could suffice to atone for their transgressions; this alone could reconcile man to God. With faith and humility they accepted the Lamb of God, that taketh away the sin of the world. Through the blood of Jesus they had "remission of sins that are past."  {GC 461.1}

          " If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be                            glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."   (1 Peter 4:11)

We cannot be lazy in this time of earth's history.  We cannot be "business as usual".  Now is the day of the Lord's appointment.  Let us empty ourselves of all self.  "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded."  James 4:8
Let us praise the Lord because He has given us this ministry, He has condescended to use us to bring people to the cross.  We can do a work that angels are not allowed to do.  They can and will help us, but we are the ones that God will use.  Humanity must work for humanity.  Let us rejoice and praise the Lord for His goodness to us.

Your Brother in Jesus,
Pastor Daniel Manzano

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
     What a joy and comfort to know that we serve a God who is working in all things to perfect our character and get us ready for heaven.  Everything that comes to us comes stamped with the cross of Jesus, and it happens because He loves us.
     Sabbath evening before sundown we were sitting in our home when suddenly a thunderstorm hit and within seconds the hail was pounding the roof and sides of the house worse than I have ever heard before.  Our little dog Porter raced out of the room, his little feet slipping on the floor as he raced for the back room to hide under the bed.  I said a quick prayer the Lord would protect our camper van since it is not under any shelter.  The storm passed quickly, and going outside we saw the ground covered with hail stones.  We measured some at 2 inches across.  The van was fine, but the everything outside was covered with leaves brought down by the "bullets" of hail.  The side of the house was also covered with leaves.  The vinyl siding is damaged with holes and cracks everywhere.  One basement window is broken.  We haven't been on the roof but will wait for the roofer's assessment.  We are thankful the damage wasn't as bad as it could have been.  It makes me think about the seventh plague when hail comes down - "about the weight of a talent" - that is about 100 pounds each.  Oh the terror of those who have not hidden in Christ.  Now is the time to make our calling and election sure.  And if you love others, then let's do all we can to try and get them into the only safety possible in this world, the safety of being in Jesus Christ.
     "Oh, how many I saw in the time of trouble without a shelter! They had neglected the needful preparation; therefore they could not receive the refreshing that all must have to fit them to live in the sight of a holy God. Those who refuse to be hewed by the prophets and fail to purify their souls in obeying the whole truth, and who are willing to believe that their condition is far better than it really is, will come up to the time of the falling of the plagues, and then see that they needed to be hewed and squared for the building. But there will be no time then to do it and no Mediator to plead their cause before the Father."  Early Writings pg. 71
     Sunday we had our work day over at the church.  Many thanks to those who came out to help in the maintenance work necessary to be done for the house of God.  I know there are some who would have liked to be there, but other necessary obligations prevented it.  But IF, (and this is between you and God), IF there were any who didn't come to help just because "I don't feel like it", then please humble yourself before the Lord.  Ask His forgiveness and pledge to do better next time.
     I want to remind you also that help is still needed at the warehouse.  We may not be thinking about the tornadoes from March, but this work is still ongoing.  While some things have slowed, our help is needed since other agencies have pulled out.
     The Lord blessed in the baptism of Brother Lemual Sikes on Sabbath.  Pray for the Lord's will to be done as to whether he gets to keep his job, or if there is something better that God has in mind. As it is written:  "Bear ye one another's burden." Please pray for others who are making the decision to take this eternally important step.
     Our meetings begin on May 12.  Please pray earnestly for these meetings, and that the Lord will bring all that we invite to know and love our Precious Savior.
     1Thessalonians 5:23-25  "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.   Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.  Brethren, pray for us."

Yours in the Blessed Hope,
Pastor Daniel Manzano

Monday April 23 2012

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
     A new week has begun.  It is good to know that so many of you are busy working to build up the Lord's kingdom.  I posted this video link on my Facebook page that my Dad sent me.  It is a good illustration of how our Creator God is still at work in His creation.  The Bible tells us to study the ants and become wise.  The unity needed to do a work like the ants do illustrates what God wants us to do.

    We
had a good Sabbath afternoon at Thunder.  We were able to put over a thousand pieces of literature in people's hands.  Of course there was some we later saw in the trash or on the ground, but we know God's promise is that if we "cast your bread upon the waters",  that "My word will not return to Me empty.  It will do what I intend it to do."   Most of it will be read.  Let's continue to pray for the people who took the truth with them.
     This Sabbath we will be having a baptism.  Lemual Sikes is making his decision to follow Jesus public in this way.  Not only is it a time for rejoicing for him, but it is a time for us who have been baptized to rededicate ourselves to following our precious Savior.
     I look forward to studying with you on Wednesday evening about Enoch and Noah.
     Pray for our meetings that begin on May 12, and begin to invite your friends and relatives.  Remind them at least once a week how much you love them and want them to be as happy as your are with the knowledge of what Jesus is doing to prepare us for His soon return.

Yours in the Blessed Hope,
Pastor Daniel
